About two weeks ago we stopped into Pasita on a whim – we were hungry and happened to pass by.
Their logo is unusual and feels incredibly authentic. I couldn’t resist asking how they ended up with that identity. Apparently, the owner’s grandfather fled occupied France during WWII, and started a business producing rums and liquors in Caracas, Venezuela. Their most popular product was Pasita, a fortified banana wine. When the grandson started his New York based business, he used the label from that wine to create their current logo (with some minor modifications, of course). What a cool story.
They do offer the banana wine, but I’ve been told its not not quite as tasty as the story of its origin.
